Claude studied at "L'Ecole de la Tonnellerie" (Cooperage School) in 1958 to graduate in 1961.

After his military service, he worked as a piece worker in a cooperage for 5 years.

In 1966 he set himself up as a craftsman in the heart of his native village, Saint Romain, using the family barn as his workshop.

In 1978, he built his first workshop at the edge of the village and created :

SAS COOPERAGE CLAUDE GILLET

Since then, he has been joined by his children -Laurent and Christine
and a team of 15 coopers in the annual production of 10,000 units
exported to all parts of the world.

Claude Gillet's insistence on traditional craftsmanship
is much appreciated by wine professionals.
Indeed, their skills and comments have helped us year and after year to
improve the quality of our production - the overriding concern in the cooperage business.
